The Government Draws the Line at Super Heroes.

While on my normal daily search for some sort of intellectual humor, I found this story. Not necessarily humor, but after some brief analysis and common sense, you can get some chucklefucks out of it.

Basically, for those that don't like to click links to read my source material, the Department of Defense liaison to Hollywood pulled the U.S. Military's "involvement" in the new mega-hit movie, "The Avengers".

But wait.....it gets better. According to Phil Strub, the DOD liaison, it was because the DOD couldn't discern who the fictitious, quasi-governmental/global/peacekeeping/military organization S.H.I.E.L.D. answered to.
"We couldn’t reconcile the unreality of this international organization and our place in it,”
So......the Department of Defense pulled support for "The Avengers" because it is UNREALISTIC.

Forget the fact that THE AVENGERS include a frozen, genetically modified soldier from World War II, a gamma-irradiated scientist that turns into a huge green beast, a Norse demigod, and a billionaire playboy philanthropist with a heart condition AND A SUIT OF ARMOR. No....the unreality of this situation is who S.H.I.E.L.D. answers to.

Forget the fact that THE (original) AVENGERS debuted almost 50 YEARS AGO, so the storyline, characters, and organizations in the movie should have come as absolutely no surprise to someone with Google and half a brain.

Here. Let's look at some of the movies Mr. Strub has contributed to, with the DOD's blessing, and I'll be sure to post the synopsis of the films as well......

  • Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action taking on the evil Decepticons, who are eager to avenge their recent defeat. The Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the United States and Russia, to reach a hidden Cybertronian spacecraft on the moon and learn its secrets, and once again Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. The new villain Shockwave is on the scene while the Autobots and Decepticons continue to battle it out on Earth

  • Los Angeles and other cities around the world are being bombarded by meteors that seem to be slowing down once they hit the earth's atmosphere. The earth is suddenly being invaded by space aliens that have landed off the shore of LA, and who begin killing everybody along the beach. The military is ordered into action. Marine Staff Sergeant Nantz (Aaron Eckhart), who was about to retire, is reassigned to a new platoon. The platoon, flown by chopper to the forward operating base at Santa Monica Airport, is being led by a new 2nd Lt. Martinez (Ramon Rodriguez). They are sent on a mission to rescue some civilians who are trapped at the police station within alien territory. They only have 3 hours to complete their mission and get out before the Air Force bombs that zone.

  • Ray Ferrier (Cruise) is a divorced dockworker and less-than-perfect father. When his ex-wife and her new husband drop off his teenage son Robbie and young daughter Rachel for a rare weekend visit, a strange and powerful lightning storm suddenly touches down. What follows is the extraordinary battle for the future of humankind through the eyes of one American family fighting to survive it in this contemporary retelling of H.G. Wells seminal classic sci-fi thriller
  • Dr. Alan Grant is now a happy man with the previous incidents of Jurassic Park now behind him. Grant is that happy that he announce in public, that nothing on Earth can persuade him back onto the islands. Maybe nothing, except Paul Kirby. Kirby and his wife, Amanda want a plane to fly them over Isla Sorna, with Dr. Grant as their guide. But not everything Kirby says is true. When the plane lands, Dr. Grant realizes that there is another reason why they are there, that he doesn't know of. Now, Dr. Grant is stuck on an island he has never been on before, with what was a plane journey now turned into a search party.
All TOTALLY believable films. I mean, I fight off alien invasion every week. I'm glad the DOD makes sure these films are totally realistic, so I know how to fight off the robots and aliens when they come. Oh, but that's not all folks, the real travesty is that the DOD actually DID throw their support fully behind a blockbuster film due out this year.....

Oh, in case you haven't heard, this movie is based on the board game. AND IT HAS FUCKING ALIENS....because, you know, that was in the game.
Based on the classic Hasbro naval combat game, Battleship is the story of an international fleet of ships who come across an alien armada whilst on a Naval war games exercise. An intense battle ensues over sea, land and air. What do they aliens - known as 'The Regents' - want?

This article has an excerpt of an email sent by the US Navy on their involvement in Battleship.
Produced by Universal Pictures and directed by Peter Berg, BATTLESHIP was made with the support of the Department of Defense and the Navy.  As you know, we ask ourselves some key questions before supporting a major motion picture. First, does the script accurately portray the Navy?  Second, does it positively represent our service and our Sailors? Third, can we support a film without impacting our operations? And finally, do we believe that it could have a positive impact on recruiting?  In the case of BATTLESHIP, we felt the answer was “Yes” to each of those questions.
Wow. So, recruiting numbers should go up, because fuck yeah, I want to fight aliens, and the women sailors look like Rihanna? Where do I sign?

Ugh.

As the year draws to a close, we are bound to start seeing the "Best of 2012" lists. Here at SooperHQ, we are also doing the Best of 2012....but for parents.

And not the cute mom and son playing together, or the dad that gave his kidney to his daughter. I'm talking about WTF parenting. FFS Fried-ay

America has an obesity problem. If it's not pounded into your head by your doctors, it's the media, government, and anybody else that will listen. I agree that America has an obesity issue. The issue is that we make AWESOME, delicious food.

Shock eating is nothing new. Any schlub can make an insanely fatty, grease-laden, cheese spouting, bacon topped monstrosity of a burger. As a matter of fact, before they moved to Sin City (ironic, isn't it?), the Heart Attack Grill (music autoplays in link, be careful) was located about 5 miles from where I currently live now. They prided themselves on the fat content of their burgers. Their largest burger, the Quadruple Bypass is 2 lbs of beef. There's a fair amount of shock involved there.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere is peaceful and serene.

Now, I get the shock factor. But when I came across this......this tribute to all that is gluttonous and great, my heart sighed, my arteries shivered, and my mouth cursed. BEHOLD!

ER. MER. GERD.
Slater's 50/50 restaurants in California created the Doughnut Burger. A "50/50 patty" (half bacon, half beef), topped with an egg (sunny side up), in between two glazed doughnuts. While this burger may be a little over the top, Slater's actually seems like a "gourmet burger" joint. Some of their ideas, though.......sheesh. Here are a few:
Fried Chicken and Pancakes - Fried chicken topped with  house-made-bacon-infused-country gravy, two strips of thick cut bacon, and a fried egg between three buttermilk pancakes, smothered in real maple syrup.

Peanut Butter Jellousy Burger - Ground beef topped with thick cut bacon, creamy peanut butter and strawberry jelly, served on a honey wheat bun.

And the best: Drumroll please..........

Thanksgiving Burger - A juicy ground turkey patty with stuffing, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, and sage mayonnaise, served on a honey wheat bun.

I may have to make a special trip to California for this place. And Dr. Wright, if you somehow happen to stumble upon this pinnacle of humbleness that is my blog.....you never read this. No se habla ingles. Por Favor. Muy bien. Gracias, senor.

A Case of the Mondays...

If you're stuck at work today, regretting all the poor life decisions that led you to take your job in a cube, I salute you.

If you're not working, congratulations. What are you doing with your life? Saving squirrels perhaps?

A Redditor submitted this paragraph, which he claimed was an email from his co-worker.
I was pressed into squirrel rescue this morning on my way out. 5 young squirrels got tangled in Christmas lights in my neighbor's yard. We got the lights off, but now their tails are one big knot, so I have to bring them into a rescue place to untie them, as I am unequipped to untie squirrel tail knots. I should be in this afternoon.
If you're a normal human, you're thinking "WHAT IN THE FUCK? You're untying squirrels? Bullshit, Johnson, you hit snooze too many times, and now you're 30 minutes late."

If you're a normal human being who looks at the picture attached to the e-mail, you sit in wonderous amazement.
"We'll see you when you get here, Johnson"

FBI profiles music fans? NO....

I recently started following a blog called Lowering the Bar. It's a humorous look at some of the insane cases that are filed through the justice system.

This case caught my eye. Apparently the Insane Clown Posse has retained counsel to defend their fans' rights against being profiled as a "loosely-organized" gang. My understanding of a "loosely-organized" gang is basically a group of people with one mutual interest. So......Facebook users are technically a "loosely-organized" gang. I digress.....
"Loosely-organized"...psh. Couple of CEO's right here.
The zealous fans of ICP are called "Juggalos", and let me not sugar-coat this.....some of them are FUCKING CRAZY. Some of them are white-collar workers, with families and mortgages, but some of them are just sociopaths. There's even a website for these sociopaths who have been unjustly persecuted to go so they can submit their tales of woe.

Completely normal, well-adjusted sociopaths.  I mean, they have couches.
Then I started thinking....why are they so upset?  Law enforcement have been profiling music lovers for YEARS. If you don't believe me, look at historical statistics for marijuana arrests and overlay Grateful Dead/Phish/Lilith Fair tour dates....I bet they line up pretty well. Just as drunk and disorderly arrests line up with Lynyrd Skynyrd/any country musician's tour dates.

Look, I know that not ALL fans of any particular genre/band should be lumped together. I hate lumping. What this case does, however, is set a precedent for fans and artists who love their fans to LEGALLY protect each other. Think about it.....

All those Bielebers that you can't stand, and make fun of in public, and whose parents have disowned them and forced them to obsess over a Canadian teenager in the basement of their friend's house can now go ahead and file a request for protection from persecution.....see where I'm going?

GOD FORBID, WATCH WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT NICKELBACK!
Look at this court-imposed legal summons! Every time I do, it makes you sad.

FFS Friday!

Remember Garfield? The orange, lasagna guzzling, dog kicking cat with an attitude? Of course you remember him. Like him or not, his comic strip is a part of pop culture, and spawned a couple of horrible, horrible, horrible motion pictures. The movies were so bad, even Jennifer Love Hewitt, and her AMAZING chest couldn't make them worthwhile.

But Garfield is a very polarizing character. You either love him, or hate him. So....what if you could read Garfield.....without Garfield?

Meet Garfield Minus Garfield. A website that takes Garfield comic strips, and strips them of Garfield. If you don't want to scroll through months of hilariousness, here's the short version.

Jon looks like he's a fucking psycho.

The End.

So this elephant and donkey walk into a bar...

**Remember that this is a humor/satire blog, and ravenous political discourse will not be tolerated. Be thinking adults, but keep your thoughts civil and courteous to those whose thoughts differ from yours. **

Since both the chest-puffing political conventions are coming to a close this week, I thought it would be a good time to introduce the SooperDad endorsed candidate.

This candidate embodies everything that the youth of the country need as their leader for a new era. This candidate is emboldened by the challenge of running for a Senate seat in the most densely populated state in the Union. This candidate puts the Woww in JWoww. (Be careful clicking her link.....there's a song that autoplays in the background.....2 guesses which song.)

This is FOR REAL. And ANIMATED.
So, Mindy Meyer is a Senate candidate for NY state in the 21st District, which is basically Albany. So she's in the State Capitol, and pushing her Conservative Republican values in a district that has historically voted Democrat. Not to mention that she's gotten her Bachelor's Degree, and is now working on a law degree.......does this sound at all familiar to anyone?

That's right....she's touting herself as the "Legally Blonde" candidate.

Good on her for actually trying to do something and not being about the standard cookie-cutter political campaigns.......but..........I really don't know what she's going for here.

Mindy around the community
These guys look THRILLED to see their local candidate.

I want her to get elected, and immediately make her victory speech. I then want someone to ask her why people can't locate the United States on a map.......

WTFriday!

As I get into my cleaning routine, I like to have some tunes on. Luckily, Cox has a station that plays music videos...(remember when MTV did that? Now they have 3 stations, and the best we get is "The Situation"?)
My youngest daughter loves to watch the videos. She is beginning to foster her love for music.
The day this pic was taken, she came out with this item, and sat on the couch, watching the TV. I asked her why she had this on the couch, and what she was doing, and she said....
"I'm hanging out with Justin Beaver (sic)" *emphasis mine
Thank you society.

50 Shades of *CENSORED*

So....

My wife is an aesthetician. She has access to all kinds of body creams, exfoliants, scrubs, serums, and other foofy things. She likes to try out new drugstore options too. Like chocolate-scented kids soap. I had the great fortune to join her on a jaunt out to her supply shop yesterday afternoon, where upon I stumbled onto this gem.

WHAT.

If you can't read the THREE FOOT TALL DISPLAY CASE, it is for a product called "Betty". Their slogan is "Color for the hair down there".

Yeah.

It's box dye for your crotches, ladies. A THREE FOOT TALL DISPLAY CASE OF VAGINA DYE.

We'll get back to the crotch coloring in a minute. Let's have a serious discussion, ladies.

I've been married for 14 years. I have the same reaction to seeing a vajay now as I did when I was 17. My eyes widen, my heart races, and I can assure you that the COLOR of the carpet (unless it's hardwood flooring) does not factor into any equation whatsoever. The simple fact that I get to see it is the thing. It could have Medusa tentacles coming out of it, and I would still be in awe. I can't speak for all men, but my guess is that a good majority of them wouldn't even know your original "hair down there" color anyways.

Now, back to the paint by numbers kits. Betty has a website. As I grimaced through this website in absolute awe of the dumbfuckeryness of this whole concept, I saw this page. For Bridal Betty (all the "Betty"s have names. Black is "Black Betty", Ocean Blue is "Malibu Betty", etc.). BRIDAL BETTY COMES WITH STENCILS Y'ALL. So you can be a classy, sophisticated bride bent over the bathtub squeezing food coloring on your lady bits the day before your big day.

So I snicker...wait...wh...........what.............WHAT THE FUCKERY FUCKING FOOK IS THIS?

BOTTOM. LEFT. CORNER.

This shit is marketed towards MEN too? Oh...it gets better folks. Testimonials from men who were "embarrassed when getting intimate" about how GREY THEIR PUBES WERE. FFS. Okay, look, it might be an issue for some dudes, I get that. But really, it's not a fashion show. The fact that anyone is close enough to even see your crank is a prize in itself.

Have we really gotten this crazy about our body image in society that we need to "spice it up" by changing the color of body hair that the general public doesn't see anyways?

Willy Wonka is a Wanker

So, to make use of the interwebz while I have them, I have decided to post about something I had stored in the vault for a rainy day.

Remember Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Remember Willy Wonka, the recluse candy mogul that needed an heir to his candy fortune, so he sent out golden tickets? Remember the kids licking the penis flavored wallpaper?

What??

I came across this article, which found an later, little known work of Ronald Dahl, author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The 1979 book My Uncle Oswald was apparently Mr. Dahl's foray into "adult fiction".....more of a 50 Shades kind of fiction, if you get my drift.

Mr. Dahl revisited the word "snozzberries", which he used in describing the flavor of the wallpaper in the Factory. Except this time, someone was grabbing a dude's snozzberry....and twisting. Here's a hint: Only dudes have snozzberries. Yeah. Makes you wonder about James and his Giant Peach too, doesn't it? Or the BFG?

Welcome to the land of ruined childhoods. Seating One?

Edit: forgot the fucking article link. Dumbass.

Obliviously Obliviant to the Oblivion

When I was working, I managed a large branch office of a national equipment rental company. I had to multitask. I had to analyze data, file reports, observe employees, and a host of other things, all running concurrently.
As well as this job paid, I did it 24 hours a day. I was on call when I was needed. This meant that while my family was getting ready to go somewhere, I may have been on a business call, or looking up some piece of information on my computer.

And I always wondered why my wife was so pissed at me when I finally ended the call.

Now that the roles have changed, my wife is on the phone quite a bit with clients, peers, vendors, and other people. She uses the computer to extend her reach via social media, to order new product, and to research her field. Sometimes, SHE even has to do this while we are getting ready to go somewhere.

And now I know why my wife was so pissed at me when I finally ended my call.

Stay at home parents don't HAVE to be on the phone. Or the computer. There's been times where I have physically unplugged my box from the wall just because along with my children screaming, the dogs barking, the dinner burning, and the toilets overflowing, it just wasn't that important. We have to multi-task. It's a necessity, not an option.

Don't get me wrong, my wife is a great mother. A better mother than I am a father. But there have been times when she's been on the phone, and I have become a whirlwind of throwing things, dressing children incorrectly, and shouting enough curse words to make George Carlin blush.

After the dust settles, I'm left panting and drooling, and basically feral.

"Kids are ready"
All the while, my wife has been handling business. Which forces me to ask "WTF, why can't she help out?"
Until I think about WHY my wife always looked pissed at me when I was on the phone.....because she was on the other end. Duh.

So, for all my multi-tasking parents out there.....embrace your ADD! Let the battle cry be heard!

We will not back down! We will......DO NOT STICK THAT IN THE ELECTRICAL OUTLET! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? We will be heard! There will be a day...YOUR BROTHER IS NOT AN ART PROJECT. SHARPIES?!?!?! WHO GAVE YOU SHARPIES?!?! There will be a day where we will be able to relax for a full 8 hours, but until then......SQUIRREL.

FFS Friday!

Paul is dead. Paul is dead. Paul is dead.

Remember when parents everywhere lost their shit because they thought their kids' Beatles album was speaking to them when played backwards?

Apparently, we were WAY off base, seeing as how Paul is the last one left........what?? What do you mean Ringo is still alive?

Unless you believe James Richards.

Mr. Richards tells his story of knocking himself unconcious, to wake up in a parallel universe, being convalesced by a man named Jonas, who had in his possession an unreleased (in our dimension) Beatles TAPE. He explains that the Beatles never broke up, were all alive and well, and still touring.

Beatles
Abbey Road is thier bitch.

Mr. Richards then went back through the magic portal to our dimension, having pilfered the tape from Jonas, and put all the songs on the internet for everyone to enjoy.

F.F.S.

I'm a huge fan of Fringe, which more or less is dealing with the "alternate dimensions" storyline. But, I mean....c'mon.

FFS, if these people had a DIMENSIONAL PORTAL, why would they still be using CASSETTE TAPES.

I'm sure I could poke another few holes in his theory, but I just can't come up with the energy to put into this nutjob.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.....

Especially when that woman is an ex-girlfriend that you decide to trust with sharp objects and a stock of nitrous oxide.

See, this guy, Marek Olszewski, from the Polish city of Wroclaw, decided to ask for help from his ex-girlfriend whom he split with days earlier.

Mr. Olszewski had a toothache. His ex-girlfriend was a dentist.

Of course, she offered to help out this great guy who just made her spend the last 2 or 3 days in a dark closet, hugging her knees, listening to Sinead O'Connor, running her local corner store out of Hagen-Dazs, defacing every picture of them as a couple, and basically ugly crying as much as humanly possible.

Mr. Olszewski awoke missing his teeth. EVERY. SINGLE. FUCKING. ONE.

F.F.S.

The woman in question, Anna Mackowiak, had this to say about it:

"I tried to be professional and detach myself from my emotions," Mackowiak is quoted as saying. "But when I saw him lying there I just thought, 'What a bastard' and decided to take all his teeth out."

FFS Friday!

As I was wading across my RSS feed this week, I saw this story a few times.....it's.........it's just......here, read it. I'll wait.

Ffs1
Please...by all means, read the full article here. I'll wait.

*deep breath*

It's actually a pretty horrible story about a friend who has sex with another friend while in this "gravy-wrestling model's" house.

But, she caught 2 of her friends having sex with each other, got pretty upset, shouted at them, only to be hit in the face with the MONKEYWRENCH that was on the floor next to the pair in mid-coitus.

monkeywrench.........on the floor......FFS.

I mean, it's alright if the floor is made of pegboard, and the tool is properly outlined, but I doubt that.

And the Daily Mail editors deserve a big FFS on this one too. While the title makes you read, the pictures are deceiving. In the picture above you get the model portion of the title, while the "gravy wrestler" portion garners a small paragraph tucked into the middle of the story, accompanied by this picture:

GGGGGAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!

FFS, Daily Mail, way to make it seem like gravy wrestling, having monkeywrenches laying around the floor of your house, and getting pummelled by brothers of friends is all in a English week for you fine chaps.

For many of us, television is a form of entertainment that has played a major part in our culture and enjoyment. Why shouldn't our pets get in on the action.

"Excuse me?" you say....

I say "DOGtv, the first network built exclusively FOR DOGS."

This isn't even a joke.

Through years of research with some of the world’s top pet experts, special content was created to meet specific attributes of a dog’s sense of vision and hearing and supports their natural behavior patterns. The result: a confident, happy dog, who's less likely to develop stress, separation anxiety or other related problems.

Or, you just get a dog that is going to hog the remote when YOU want to watch something. And become a couch potato.

Being the father that lets thier children explore (controlled) on the internet, I have no problem with them and YouTube (I changed thier settings so they can't see boobies).

My 10 year old is now a makeup maven (like momma), and follows several makeup channels, including an awesome little girl with cancer that is so full of life, she glows. Stay with me, this is not the WTF part.

While stumbling across the internet, I found something that confused me. My 10 year old, however, said "Dad!! You haven't seen that?!? OMG?!?!", then my wife also reiterated the same feeling, meaning that apparently, I'm not up to par on my youtube virals. It's called the Cinammon Challenge. Seriously. Search for "Cinnamon Challenge" on YouTube, and you get this:

I stumbled across this next product in my interwebz searching.

If you could have a glimmering moment of sunshine in your otherwise dismal cubicle sentence, how would finding a good sign at the bottom of your coffee cup.

Here's why this product is brilliant. Rather than give you the impression that you're going to be blown away by your regular cup of half burned Folger's (because your company is "cutting costs", and they have to "sacrifice" and "trim the fat" by "getting rid of some luxury items" such as good coffee), the manufacturers make you wait until you have nearly drank the whole cup, because then you are 1000% less likely to strangle a co-worker.

I give you the "Minor Miracle - Our Lady of the Latte" coffee mug

Minormiracle_648

Sometimes inspiration appears when you least expect it. For example, even a simple mug can confer a Minor Miracle— after you drink your morning coffee or tea, a vision of The Holy Mother materializes in the bottom of your cup. Take it as a sign — caffeine is GOOD. Don’t you think every day should start with a Minor Miracle? Beautiful giftbox packaging.

A Late Christmas Gift for the SooperKrue - ADULTS ONLY.

Well, I've taken a small hiatus since before Christmas, and over the break, I have re-found another musical gem that will be my gift to you. All 4 of you. Enjoy!

Before you ask, this guy is totally legit, he has his own website, Facebook, and......MySpace.

Someone showed me this a long time ago, and it popped into my head recently for some unknown reason....if you're REALLY brave, check out his other videos. He's done a song with Samantha Fox, for crying out loud. SOMEONE in the music industry takes this guy seriously enough.
