I'm in line on opening day for this one....

Wednesday
I was derping around on the interwebz, when an ad for the new Pixar movie, Brave, caught my eye. Being a proactive parent, I clicked on the link to prepare myself for the barrage of merchandise and promotional items I am no doubt going to be begged to buy.

And then I was shocked.

A female lead. A powerful, dynamic, strong female lead in a movie targeted at children.

I mean sure, there are the Disney "Princesses" (Technically, not all of them are Princesses.....just sayin) but think about it: they are all somewhat dependant on a male counterpart. Hopefully this movie will not follow that pattern and give my girls a true heroine to look up to.

SooperReflections Sunday

Sooperreflections_sunday_banner
It sucks when you have to tell someone that their surprise got ruined. :(

Having a large extended family means we get top value out of clothes. My youngest son just got handed down pajamas from my nephew that we originally bought for my 8 year old.

I used to think sushi was for hipster rich kids. I am now adjusting my budget to be able to afford it more often.

I'm going to quit buying cereal for my two youngest children. They would rather have store-brand barbecue potato chips for breakfast.

I would now like to thank Pixar for sucking every possible cent of expendable income from me.

My computer sounds like an airplane preparing for takeoff. I'm worried that it might be a small dirty bomb waiting to go off.

Sieckman children's goal for preparedness = making sure there's a roll of toilet paper BEFORE they start going.

I used to think my father was crazy because he spoke to inanimate objects and unseen people. Now I do it. And I'm beginning to relate to cartoon characters. (Help........me)

Have a good Sunday!

DIFO...VI,EII Results

Wow! A lot of you got this right, and REALLY quickly.

The girl in the picture grew up to be an actress on Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place, and made her theatrical debut in the film adaptation of Ramona and Beezus. She (and her band) have 2 gold albums certified by the RIAA, as well as 2 RIAA-certified Platinum singles. At 17, she became the youngest ever ambassador for UNICEF, and is also involved in charities that help animals in Puerto Rico, and raise awareness of abuse towards women in the Congo. She recently started her own production company, launched her own clothing line, and is coming out with her own perfume line also. Oh, by the way, she is also hated by many tweens worldwide (and my 4-year old daughter) for the sole fact that she is/was dating The Beeb.

P.S. - That's right.....she's only 19. Overachiever.

Congraulations to Tonya S. for getting the first correct answer in, 7 minutes after the original post!

Damn, I Feel Old...Volume I, Episode I

Played this on my facebook page.....my daughter actually told me of this connection.

Who is this little girl, and what show is the picture from?

Demilovato_barney

Leah T. came up with the right answer, but it seemed to stump quite a few...

For those that are still stumped, here's a picture of the young lady now:

That's right...the little girl grew up to become a Disney Channel star, singer, songwriter, a Joe Jonas "kill", and rehab visitor (bulemia, self-injury). Just think, moms and dads....this ALL happened within 10 years. She starred in Barney & Friends in 2002-2003, where the original picture is from.

Just another reason to lock our daughters up. Joe Jonas is still out there..........somewhere.
